Peterborough Lita Judge signing books at Toadstool

Peterborough author and illustrator Lita Judge will sign copies of her new picture book, “Old Blue Is My Home,” at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Toadstool Bookshop, 12 Depot Sq.\uare, Peterborough.

The book tells the story of a girl whose family lives in a van named Old Blue. Inspired by Judge’s own childhood, it addresses housing insecurity through a child’s eyes.

“I wanted children today who are facing housing insecurity to see that they aren’t alone,” Judge said. “And I wanted children and parents who have forever homes to have a better understanding of what families coping with home insecurity are facing and to find compassion rather than judgment.”

Judge has published more than 30 children’s books, including “Flight School,” “Mary’s Monster” and “The Wisdom of Trees.”
