JaffreyPark Theatre presents ‘Raphael Revealed’

In 2020, to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Raphael’s death, the most-extensive exhibition ever held of his works took place in Rome, and Seventh Art Productions produced a documentary about the exhibition and the artist.

The Park Theatre, 19 Main St. in Jaffrey, will present “Raphael Revealed” as part of its monthly “Exhibition on Screen” series Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 1:30 p.m.

With more than 200 pieces, including paintings and drawings – over 100 of which have been brought together for the first time – this exhibition celebrates the life and work of Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino. With unprecedented loans from the Louvre, Uffizi, National Gallery of Art, the Prado Museum and more, the exhibition and this film provide an unprecedented opportunity to see the breadth of Raphael’s work.

The film covers his life in Rome, and includes footage of the ancient Rome that was such a powerful influence, including footage of Nero’s Golden House that Raphael himself visited.

Tickets are $15, and people can purchase them in advance by going to theparktheatre.org or by calling the box office at 603-532-8888. Tickets will also be available at the theater prior to the film.

Carolyn Edwards’ “Lunch at The Park” meal will begin at the theater at noon prior to the screening. The menu includes chilled garden vegetable gazpacho soup, roast beef sandwich on brioche bun with chips, Greek salad and ginger cookies. All of the theater’s concessions will be available, as well as wine and beer. Order until Aug. 12 at parklunch.org.
