Letter: Creighton is a strong candidate

Antrim is a small community nestled in the heart of the Monadnock Valley, and like other towns in the area, it is a vital, vibrant and progress-bound community. Antrim has a strong core of individuals who give tremendous time and energy to support and strengthen the community. One such person who is at the top of my list is Jim Creighton.
After a 30-year career in the military, during which he deployed to Operation Desert Storm, Honduras, Korea, Afghanistan and Germany and commanded as many as 3,000 soldiers, he and his wife, Tamasine, retired. She honorably served her country for 20 years and retired as a lieutenant colonel. After settling in Antrim, Jim continued his service to his country and community through his work as a state representative.
In speaking with Jim, I quickly realized that he knows how to work with people. Many times, he mentioned that the art of listening and working together to create reasonable solutions tends to be lost today. If reelected to the position of state representative, he plans to concentrate his efforts on creating economic growth and fighting the opioid addiction challenge. He feels that the growth of the local and state economies is essential to keeping us strong as a state. Along with these areas, he believes that affordable housing is an absolute necessity.
When asked to name his role model for public service, Jim responded, “Teddy Roosevelt.” I believe that if there ever was a person following in Roosevelt’s footsteps it would be Jim Creighton. His drive toward bettering the community through hard work and determination, tempered with skills of listening and understanding, makes him my choice for House of Representatives from District 30 in Antrim, Bennington, Hillsborough and Windsor.
