Optimist Cafe in Jaffrey sets evening of music and spoken word

The Optimist Cafe, 16 Colls Farm Road in Jaffrey, will host an evening of music and spoken word on Tuesday, March 18, from 6 to 9 p.m.

The event begins with an entrée, salad and dessert at 6 p.m., followed by performances from singer-songwriter Jack Henry, poet Julie Cyr, and musician Nancy Beaudette.

Henry, a founding member of Decatur Creek, plays bass, dobro, lap steel and guitar. He has recorded and produced with Decatur Creek and Wendy Keith & Her Alleged Band. The band’s latest album is “The Hills of Antrim.”

Cyr has been published in Slipstream, Blood and Thunder Journal, Broad River Review, Lost Horse Press and “Nasty Women Poets Anthology.” She has received multiple poetry awards and nominations, including the Pushcart Prize.

Beaudette, originally from near Cornwall, Ontario, blends English and French musical traditions.
