Third- and fourth-graders from Bennington’s Pierce Elementary School visited the Bennington Historical Society last week to learn about the history of Bennington and about the life of Capt. Francis Butler, a Bennington resident who served in New Hampshire’s 5th Regiment in the Civil War.
The 13th annual Bennington Rhubarb Festival, a fundraiser for GEP Dodge Library Building Fund, took place Saturday despite the weather. Residents braved rain, mud and cool temperatures to sample homemade rhubarb pie, meet local livestock, buy items at the Rhubarb General Store, and hit the library book sale.

Bennington residents will be in the rhubarb once again at the town’s 13th annual Bennington Rhubarb Festival on Saturday, June 7, at Sawyer Field in Bennington. The festival will from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.
Antrim and Bennington observed Memorial Day on Monday, May 26. Veterans from the Antrim American Legion Myers-Prescott-Olson Post 50 and Brown-Knight Memorial Post VFW Post 8268 in Bennington walked in Antrim’s parade and visited the town’s cemeteries and war memorials to honor all soldiers and service people who have died in service to the country.
White Birch General Store in Bennington recently celebrated its first anniversary with live music and tastings.
