The 47th annual Peanut Butter Chip Chase 5K took place on New Year’s Day in Temple, organized by the Souhegan Lions Club. Proceeds from the event benefit residents and charities in Temple, Greenville, Mason and New Ipswich.
The race drew 111 participants, who ran or walked the course despite a rainy start that eased to a drizzle. Homemade cookies and soup awaited participants at the finish.
Ben Colby, 20, of Nashua finished first overall in 18 minutes, 39 seconds, followed by Rachel Hurley, 24, of Peterborough, who finished in 20:16. Six-year-old Nathan Sigeman was the youngest finisher, earning the traditional giant cookie award. Silvana Morgan of Nashua ran in a cookie costume, and William Vaillancourt of Manchester won the kayak raffle.
