Mt. Monadnock Little League 10Us have tough time at regionals

With one game left to play, the Mt. Monadnock Little League 10U team is 0-3 in the regional tournament in Cranston, R.I.

The New Hampshire state champions opened tournament play with a 7-2 loss to the team from Braintree, Mass., Saturday. Porter Krook went the distance for Mt. Monadnock.

Porter also had one of Mt. Monadnock’s six hits and scored a run, while Colson Damon, Cooper Aho, Ty Somero, Mason Rose and  Colton Swan also had one hit apiece. Colson and Colton drove in Mt. Monadnock’s runs, with Colton recording the second Mt. Monadnock tally.

Mt. Monadnock was tied at 2 with CNYLL after six innings before a six-run outburst in the seventh resulted in an 8-2 loss.

A triple by Mason Rose after a six-pitch at-bat put Mt. Monadnock on the board in the bottom of the second, and they increased the lead to 2-0 on a triple by Spencer Hill. 

CNYLL tied the game with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings before breaking the game open in the seventh.

Colson got the start for Mt. Monadnock, pitching four innings, and Cooper pitched two innings. Colton pitched one-third of an inning, and Ty ptiched two-thirds of an inning.

Porter, Spencer Hill, Colson, Colton, Ty and Mason recorded Mt. Monadnock’s six hits, with Spencer and Ty scoring the runs and Spencer driving in the other run.

Against the team from Colchester, Vt., on Monday, Mt. Monadnock was down 10-3 going into the bottom of the fifth inning before scoring seven runs to tie the game. However, Colchester scored 14 runs in the top of the sixth on the way to a 24-10 victory.

Mt. Monadnock scored its seven runs in the fifth on seven hits. Pierce Adams tripled to score two runs. Mason drive in a run with a single, and a passed ball scored one run. Porter drew a walk, scoring one run, and Colton’s single scored two runs.

Spencer started for Mt. Monadnock, pitching 2 2/3 innings. Ty pitched two-thirds of an inning, Pierce 1 2/3 innings, Mason Blouin a third of an inning and Mason Rose two-thirds of an inning.

Porter was 2-2 with a walk and two runs scored, while Colton drove in three runs, Pierce drove in a pair and Cooper and Mason Rose each drove in a run. Spencer also scored a pair of runs, while Colson, Ty, Hudson Seppala, Pierce, Mason Rose and Dexton Seppala each scored runs.

Mt. Monadnock is scheduled to wrap up the regionals Thursday against Trumbull, Conn.
